What a time to be alive in 1975!
In case you missed it, here are some of the many events that were achieved this year! This year truly is a significant year of endings and new beginnings. After approximately 20 years, the Vietnam War finally came to an end on the 30th of April. Key figures in the Watergate scandal were finally convinced of their part in dividing the United States. Economic instability was a challenging situation for all, as the war concluded with inflation and recession in many countries. The oil crisis still fills the air as we struggle to recover from it. Sports continue to flourish, and significant league history is made! Music is growing, and the era of disco music is booming within us all. Every day life is different for all, but no one can escape from the number one song that is stuck in our heads, Love Will Keep Us Together by Captain and Tennille. Dawoud Bey also created a stunning portfolio of ordinary people in Harlem, New York, showing us that although we are all different, we are all just living this life one day at a time. Artwork is displayed in various forms, but artists such as Willem De Kooning, Jacob Lawrence, and Bram van Velde have captured the attention of many with their abstract pieces. Many things were accomplished this year, and there is still work for us to do. However, we are part of history, and each individual has a unique story. Those who lived in 1975 will remember the beginnings and endings that occurred throughout the year.
