We are asked by the nursing staff to wait until the patient has been triaged.

• • When this is done, the Bed Status color will turn RED - “Waiting for Provider”.

  • Please DO NOT put your name on the patient until this happens. Otherwise, the patient will drop from the nurse “Waiting for Triage” list.

If you see a patient that you want to claim for R2, but the patient has not yet been triaged (Bed Status not red), you can put the patient in an R2 room without assigning yourself. The patient will remain in the “Waiting for Triage” list. Nurses will note that patients will be reserved for R2 and not place them in M cubicles.

If you have a nurse and registration staff assigned to R2, they will take care of everything including orders. You can leave the patient in R2. 

However, if you do not have staff assigned to R2, you should place the patient in R1 so that the registration staff & nurse can see them. They normally do not look in R2 for patients pending registration/orders.
