Indications
Air or gas embolism
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Enhancement of healing in diabetically derived illness such as diabetic foot, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy
Exceptional blood loss (anemia)
Intracranial abscess
Clostridial myositis and myonecrosis (gas gangrene)
Crush injury, compartment syndrome, and other acute traumatic ischemias
Decompression sickness
Necrotizing soft tissue infections (necrotizing fasciitis)
Osteomyelitis (refractory)
Delayed radiation injury (soft tissue and bony necrosis)
Skin grafts and flaps (compromised)
Thermal burns
Actinomycosis
Cyanide poisoning
Central Retinal Artery Occlusion
Delayed radiation injury (soft tissue and bony necrosis)
Contraindications
Absolute:
History of barotrauma
Relative:Â
Severe COPD or asthma
History of eye surgery with trapped air
Certain chemotherapy treatments
Upper respiratory infections
Recent ear or thoracic surgery
Uncontrolled fever
Diabetic with BS < 150 who recently took their diabetic med
