Stepping closer to Winterland from the Streets of Day, you can see how the Winter Scepter (A toy overdosed with Additive C, that would take over the entire surrounding area by turning it to a world of everlasting winter, the last thing you want to see in Vegas) has affected the land. The pavement gives off an icy texture that slowly melts to normal when you reach the Area 15 streets.
One of the highlight art installations of the Streets of Day is the Halved Trees, an art piece inspired by the contrasts of the fiery Universal: Horror Unleashed and the Winterland lands, where trees dot the middle of the two lands. From a perspective facing the Universal side of the street, you see a burnt tree with raging fire; but on the other side, you see an icy tree with icicles hanging. From the middle, you can see them perfectly halved.
Soon, a person would eventually see the facade of the Winterland entry portal: A menacing, snowy glacier fortress of ice, caverns, and glowing crystals creates a splendid air, where small fountains of ice dot its entrance. At the top, like an ironic tribute to the Hollywood sign, are the glowing, neon letters that dot the "hills" of the glacier, proudly saying W I N T E R L A N D. Small North Pole miniatures featuring little European houses dot the landscape in the distance, with miniature polar bears and reindeer popping up between snow crevices, only noticeable by the keen eye. Winterland's curious icy energy invites you in to its caverns, and you step into the eerie, wonderful, amazing, show-stopping, weird, powerful
Stepping in is quite a journey in itself. Through the sliding crystal doors of Winterland is the Entry Portal, or the place to buy your tickets (which includes admission to Omega Mart). Dazzling lights arc across the icy ceiling, and icicle chandeliers paired with air conditioning give a powerful respite from the hot, steaming, filthy-rich Las Vegas. If you prefer, you can also take a side door to Winterland Gifts, where you can buy the merchandise you want, pilfered straight from the Factory itself. Take a peak- some of the things are as zany as the Mart's! From the entry, a viewing window also looks into the Reindeer Enclosure, filled with real reindeer imported from the North Pole (or lab-grown from Dramcorp, whichever story you decide).
