For this show, I chose to use an app I have seen recommended on my iPad called Scriptation. This means that I will be using a full digital script over a paper script.
The advantages of this mean that it is more compact, in carrying around and when using it while mixing. There is no pages ripped out of a folder and it doesn't require a light as it is backlit. I also have an Apple Pencil which I can use for quick marking. Any marks I make can be in any colour, be easily erased or moved anywhere. It also means I can download it for sharing on my website.
The disadvantages of having a digital script means you are relying on technology. Making sure my iPad is charged and the app could crash (I did not experience this in my use of the app).
In the app, I had various controls, including a pen and a highlighter. For cut parts of the script, I made it very clear where the cuts were with red colour. I wrote in actor names for incidental lines.
I gave each of the main characters their own colour, which would coincide with the colour strip I used on the mixer. This would help in split seconds, for example I can recognise that an orange colouring will mean Oliver, green will mean Bill Sikes, or pink will mean Nancy.
Every single line in the script that was mic'd (99% of them), I wrote the mic number that would say that line next to it. I also wrote in my QLab cue numbers in black so I could have my own record of where they are in case I cannot listen to the DSM.
Sometimes these cues would be visual, or on a line not in the script, so I would mark that in my script where it happens.
I also noted at the start of each scene, which mics would be used in that scene, which would allow me to prepare faders for sudden lines.
