We had our first meeting with Dan, the director and Alfie, the production coordinator following the staff meeting the previous Friday. We discussed key points about the show and how different components would work together. I created a list of question points beforehand to discuss with Dan and noted down the discussion in a different colour to take this into account.
We attended our first rehearsal where they did a run of Act 1 with Cast A. I made notes throughout detailing who was speaking in the scene and would need a mic, and where there would good opportunities for potential mic swaps. Afterwards, we had a brief production meeting with Dan to catch up, mostly for other departments. We did have a small conversation discussing sound to have a future cueing meeting with a cast member Arlo, to get all the exact places where tracks needed to start. From today I feel confident in starting a mic plot from these notes.
Continuing from last week, we watched a run of Act 2 with Cast A. I continued my notes with who talked and places fit for potential mic swaps.
My main aims of this meeting were to discuss mic plotting. I needed to know which actors were playing the small extra one-line roles and what other characters they may play, to allow me to create as efficient a plan as possible.
From this meeting, I began talking to Grace about mic plotting which can be found here. I also added to my block diagram and patch plan with the backstage mics.
