Landscape architects design attractive and functional public parks, gardens, playgrounds, residential areas, college campuses, and public spaces.
Michael Callan earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1991. His studies provided him with a strong foundation and a thorough understanding of plants, topography, soils, irrigation, drainage, and design theory. He opened his design studio in 1994, after becoming a licensed landscape architect. He primarily designs unique residential landscapes.

Elke loves building things. She renovated houses for several years before pursuing a degree in Interior Design. In addition to interior design work, Elke managed the architectural scope on many projects so she challenged the exams to become a licensed architect. Most of her recent work is in life science labs and support spaces but she has also worked on banks, cafes, offices and an airline pilot training facility.

A structural engineer is responsible for every building and structure created, ensuring every project is structurally sound and a feasible design for the desired results.
Justin is a structural engineer with a focus on earthquakes. This specialty is often called “earthquake engineering.” He studies how earthquakes affect buildings and the people who use them, and he applies that knowledge to make buildings safer during earthquakes. Justin has designed new buildings, worked with communities in Haiti to prepare for future earthquakes, visited Ecuador, Mexico, and New Zealand after earthquakes, and developed new methodologies to improve the practice of earthquake engineering.

A Plumbing Maintenance Technician, is a skilled tradesperson in charge of installing, inspecting and repairing pipes and plumbing systems to make sure all of a building's fixtures operate correctly. Their duties include finding the source of leaks and blockages, fixing or replacing broken parts and testing the plumbing system. A curriculum coordinator's primary purpose is to create and implement an education plan that meets the needs of students. He or she makes recommendations to teachers and other faculty in regard to the ways in which various subjects are being taught in order to enhance learning.
Thomas joined the Plumbers Union 467 at 30 years old. In his 5 year apprenticeship, he can proudly say he was at the top of his class while working the entire time. Being given opportunities to lead in the field while being an apprentice enabled him to become a Journeyman. The Apprenticeship asked Thomas to become an instructor, which he happily accepted. Taking this opportunity he transitioned his career towards educating the future of 467 by becoming the Curriculum Coordinator.

A Chief Building Official is responsible for leading the Building Services Department. The primary function of this position is to oversee and participate in the plan review and inspection of all commercial, industrial, and residential properties for the purpose of securing and maintaining compliance with building codes.
As Chief Building Official, Armand Lobao manages a diverse team of Permit Techs, Building Inspectors, Plan Reviews, etc. He looks forward to discussing the many dynamic opportunities available for you in the construction industry, specifically those within city government. A carpenter is responsible for working with wood to build and repair structures and other items and they also may have to select and source appropriate materials depending on project needs. Their duties include calculating quotes, meeting with clients and creating design plans for remodeling projects.
John worked in construction pretty much out of high school. He earned his C-33 license when he turned 24. He also owned a restaurant in San Francisco when he was 26 but he found his calling when he started working with kids at Kid's Carpentry.
