The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints self-reliance program has been prepared to help members of the Church and all people of faith learn and put into practice principles of faith, education, hard work, and trust in the Lord. Accepting and living these principles will better enable you to receive the temporal blessings promised by the Lord. We invite you to diligently study and apply these principles and teach them to your family members. As you do so, your life will be blessed. You will learn how to act on your path toward greater self-reliance. You will be blessed with greater hope, peace, and progress.
The Church provident living web site has been established to encourage self-reliance and preparedness. Included on the site are helpful self-reliance tools like a family budget worksheet and family financial calculators.
Adjusting to Missionary Life is a booklet that will help someone prepare to serve a mission, and can also help anyone understand how they are doing physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. It is an excellent resource to learn about stress and how to manage it.
Self-reliance support groups/classes are designed to help you become more self-reliant. The courses are normally for 10 -12 weeks and last approximately 90 minutes. On-line courses are offered by Southeast Region when there is interest; indicate your interest at the SER self-reliance web site. For local classes, indicate your interest to your Bishop/Relief Society President/Elders Quorum President or your ward or branch self-reliance specialist.
Ward and branch welfare and self-reliance specialists are also called to assist you in becoming more self-reliant. To contact them, look under "other callings" in LDS Tools for your ward.
Southeast Region Resources includes many local church resources for the Eastern United States, including counseling services, recovery groups, support groups, education, and more.
