Timeline of Apeirophobia, when it began, how it began and where it is now.
This was the beginning of Apeirophobia. It's release date. When it began. On release it wasn't that known, however shortly after it shot up in popularity. Many people and known YouTubers such as 8-Bit Ryan started making gameplay videos on Apeirophobia only increasing its popularity. It just consisted of 5 levels, and only a few entities. There was a few bugs and mistakes here and there, but don't forget the game is still in pre-alpha at this time. Things would change in the foreseeable future, and they will. The current owner of Apeirophobia was a user by the name of ZoneQXL, under the group of Monochrome Studios. You should remember that name, it will be back sooner or later. There wasn't much going on at this time, but Apeirophobia was steadily rising in popularity with the leaks of the upcoming "The End Update."
This was the date of The End Update. It brought a ton of new levels, revamped a lot of entities and made a lot of necessary optimization and bug fixes. Bringing to the table a total of 10 new levels, with also adding a lot of new entities, removing old ones and revamping the looks of already existing ones. This added a new challenge to beating Apeirphobia having to worry about all these new entities and levels. The amount of players of Apeirophobia rapidly grew, along with more and more YouTubers finding out about Apeirophobia. It started to become a competition to Doors' playerbase, despite being polar-opposites. This was the day of the first major update to Apeirophobia, and it certainly won't be the last.
This was a small minor update to Apeirophobia. Fixing a few game breaking bugs, such as the gamepasses not working. Not game breaking, but caused the community to be mad. They also fixed the doggleganger badge which is obtained from level 5, fixed the issue where you couldn't make lobbies in some servers and added the 10 player lobby gamepass. Not much with this update, but did fix a few issues.
This was the first change of music to the lobby. Nothing much going on here, but just a music change for the lobby.
This was yet another simple update, only adding codes and the "cheerful" title to Apeirophobia.
This entire time during development, there was a major issue going on with the lead developer. That wasn't discovered till sometime late July. ZoneQXL was discovered to be doing terrible and illegal activities, and also bribing other team members to keep quiet about it. Soon enough it was found out that ZoneQXL was an account owned by a notable person who has always been participating in these activities. Though thankfully Roblox quickly terminated his account and was also banned permanently off of discord. The community was starting to break. This event caused a lot of backlash especially because people lost their progress in game, and their robux due to the game transfer. It was a disaster right now, but we can only hope it will get better in the future. Due to the owner of Apeirophobia and Monochrome Studios having their accounts terminated another user by the name of Cxrpss founded Polaroid Studios and re-published Apeirophobia. New owner, new start. Let's hope nothing bad happens to this new owner.
After the tragic incidents that lead to Monochrome Studios shutdown and ZoneQXL's account termination, the development team had to do something. They were't going to give up now. Not just yet. A person known a Cxrpss who co-owned Apeirophobia during the time when it was founded as Monochrome Studios, and she re-opened it under Polaroid Studios. A few days later after re-opening, specifically July 29th, Apeirophobia got an update introducing 2 new levels. It was small but they had to release the update, otherwise the community wouldn't be too happy. The community wasn't too happy either.
After a long wait of almost 3 months, the long awaited Update 3 was finally finished and released. It added a total of 4 new levels, starting at Level 13 and ending at Level 16. It also added in a ton of new entities to every level. Not a single level within Update 3 has no entities. This update brought back a lot of players to Apeirophobia. Though the formula was always the same. Just find the exit or get items then go to exit. Which made the game repetitive and boring, but that would soon change.
This was when Update 3.5 released. Adding the ability to gift gamepasses and infinity mode. It added a somewhat new challenge to the game, it was designed to see how far you could go. The levels were always in a random order too so you never knew what was coming next. It also revamped level 10 and made it look way better. Bringing back a few more players to see what happened. Though it was still boring to many, and the community wanted something different. As sad as it is, some people started to leave Apeirophobia.
April 13, 2023 was yet another small mini-update to the game, being called "Update 3.X." The X possibly representing 10 as X is the roman numeral for 10. This update added an ending cutscene to Level 16, as well as revamping the overall design for the Skin Stealer in Level 8 and the Starfish in level 1. This level also finally added a background ost that plays in Level Run For your Life.
On April 14th, 2023, Apeirophobia did a major collaboration with the metal band: Metallica. This added metallica themed posters all over most of the levels as well as badges that are in some way related to Metallica.
On September 22nd, 2023 Apeirophobia finally released the long awaited Chapter 2 update. The update was first teased by the owner with a trailer that raised the expectations of what is going to happen and what the chapter will be. Soon enough on this day it was released causing the game to explode once more in visits with popular and known youtubers such as Tsuna to make videos on it and stream gameplay on it. This update added 8 new levels in total, however more technically 7 since the 8th level was still a WIP level, only the cutscene being in place. This update also added 8 new levels, and the highly anticipated and first entity to have a voice: The Watcher. Who appears throughout some levels to give the player horrid advice on what to do. This update was the sole reason on how it brought back Apeirophobia to life once more.
