The world has witnessed an ever increasing threat of Bombing attacks in recent times. There is a critical need for explosive detection tools. Our goal in this project is to design a smart wand which is a handheld device that enables explosive particulate collection on a textile swab for further chemical analysis using an Ion Mobility Spectroscopy Detector. The swab is placed into the wand head which is pressed onto the surface of interest. Pressure is applied during swabbing.
