Design and Development of a Portable, Low cost, Mechanical Tester

Absence of low priced (<$2000) material testing solutions in the market presents acquisition challenges for educators in material science. This project involves designing a lightweight, extremely versatile, highly portable and user friendly tensile, compression and hardness tester all-in-one that runs on open-source platform called Arduino. It is made mostly from off-the-shelf components and has a friendly VBA user interface design for test control, data acquisition, data export and analysis.
