In June 2015, I began discussions with OUP about writing a textbook for the new GCSE.

It was a privilege to even be considered for such an important job. The influence of a good textbook cannot be underestimated and the thought of producing a resource that would be used by many students and teachers up and down the country was one that was both daunting, yet exciting.

I have ended up writing over half of the book and I can honestly say that I feel this is an excellent resource for the new GCSE. It has been hard work, but the team’s determination to get things right and accurate, yet accessible and useful for the classroom, has resulted in what you will hopefully agree is a great book.
