About Me
Hello, I’m Ashley Wright. I’m a student at Salt Lake Community College studying to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant and will be graduating May 2025.
My family brings me a lot of joy and support. I have 4 older sisters and 12 nieces and nephews. I also originally studied business management (with an emphasis in supply-chain management) from Brigham Young University and graduated in 2014. I worked for 9 years as an analyst and product manager. I switched to OT after learning how to better manage my own health complications and the associated emotional challenges. I want to help others find support and healing through OT.
What is OT?
For me, occupational therapy means helping people live the most meaningful life possible, despite their limitations. People can often label or define themselves by their physical, mental, and/or emotional limitations. OT helps them get outside of those limitations and find healing through meaningful activities, increasing their capacity for well-being for the rest of their life.
Goals
My main goal is to become a very competent OT practitioner. By the time I graduate, I hope to know what types of clients and conditions most interest me and have experience working with those clients. I also want to be proactive in gaining additional experience and learning outside of the classroom/clinic/fieldwork in how to best help those clients.
