Reflection
For this assignment, two classmates and I observed a local business's compliance of ADA requirements. Below you can see the letter we wrote with our observations and recommendations. This assignment helped me grow and learn in many ways including:
Increasing my awareness of what may be difficult for people with disabilities. I've actually noticed several times since this activity how a certain business establishment may be difficult to navigate in for someone with a disability.
Recognizing that I can take proactive measures and write to local businesses about my observations of ADA compliance/friendliness.
Better understanding future clients and why they may be hesitant to go out into the community because it can present more difficulties than at home. But I can also hopefully help them find establishments that are more disability friendly.
I look forward to future assignments like this one and continuing to learn more about how to help people with diabilities.
