Amazon’s Training & Development Practices:
According to an article written by Amazon staff posted on “aboutAmazon”, it is evident that Amazon focuses on on-the-job training as an essential part of teaching employees how to do their tasks. This means trainees will observe and physically do these tasks as a part of training.
Within this article, it is clear that many associates that start out at a lower skilled job work their way up through training programs and technological resources that Amazon has to offer.
Amazon offers countless development and training opportunities to their employees, stated on their website in an article titled “Training” written by the Amazon staff.
One developmental program is called “Career Choice”. This program allows amazon associates to earn certificates and associate degrees in high-demand occupations. Amazon funds 95% of these employees tuition fees. Onsite classrooms have been built at Amazon fulfillment centers so college and technical classes can be taught and offered in-house.
Another developmental program offered by Amazon is “Career Skills”. This program is a free, on-site training program offered to all hourly paid Amazon employees. Career Skills offers classes on resume building, effective speaking, time management, Microsoft excel, and many more.
