Welcome to the Innovation Bay competition, a platform where creative and aspiring student entrepreneurs showcase their innovative products, pitch their ideas, work out product costing, and present compelling advertisements to convince our panel of experienced sharks. Get ready to dive into the world of innovation, entrepreneurship, and persuasive communication!
Eligibility: The competition is open to students from grades 9 to 12.
Each participating team must consist of a maximum of 2 students. Time duration – 2 hours for creating and presenting the product
Innovative Product: Each team must develop a new and original product that addresses a real-world problem or need. Assorted raw materials will be provided at the venue. The participants must use their creativity to prepare a product. All stationery items required must be carried by the participant.
Pitch Presentation: Each team will have a limited amount of time to pitch their product to the panel of sharks. The pitch should cover the product's features, benefits, target audience, market potential, and unique selling points.
Product Costing: Teams are required to present a detailed breakdown of the product's manufacturing or development costs, including materials, labour, production, packaging, and any other relevant expenses.
Advertisement: Teams must create a compelling advertisement to promote their product. This can be a poster or a presentation that effectively communicates the product's value proposition.
Judging Criteria: The sharks will evaluate each presentation based on innovation, market viability, product costing, the persuasiveness of the advertisement, clarity of the pitch, and overall presentation skills.
Q&A Session: After the pitch and advertisement, the sharks will have a Q&A session with each team to delve deeper into the product's details, market research, and financial projections.
Respectful Behaviour: All participants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional demeanour throughout the competition, whether interacting with the sharks, fellow contestants, or event organizers.
Intellectual Property: All ideas and concepts presented during the competition remain the intellectual property of the respective teams. However, by participating, contestants grant permission for the competition organizers to share their products, ideas, and concepts for promotional purposes.
Originality: Plagiarism or presenting products that are copied or too similar to existing products is strictly prohibited. Teams must showcase originality and genuine innovation.
Attire: Teams are encouraged to dress in a professional and appropriate manner during their presentations to convey a strong impression to the sharks.
Feedback: Teams will receive constructive feedback from the sharks after their presentations, which can serve as valuable insights for the further development of their products and business strategies.
Disqualification: Any violation of the rules, unethical behaviour, or failure to comply with the instructions provided by the event organizers may result in disqualification.
