Join our Nomination Committee: We have two positions that need to be replaced for the next academic year: Treasurer and Social Media Chair. As part of the process to replace them we are creating a committee to help determine the best people to join our crew. In order to be part of the committee you cannot run for an office yourself but it's a good way to help out without having to give a lot of your time. Committee members will meet a few times over the next few months to discuss recruiting new members, discuss potential nominations, and at the end, they will present their nominations to the wider PTA. We then will vote on those people for potentially being added to the board. If you are interested please respond to this email, and I can make sure you are included. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about our open positions or joining the nominating committee.
Great Kindness Challenge: Per Ms. Micah: I am excited to announce that during the week of Jan 26-30th there will be spirit days, donation drives, school wide lunch activities, counseling lessons centered on kindness, a family night, a "family challenge" going home and a popcorn party for the class who brings back the most family challenges. She needs volunteers for the date of Jan 30th to help make and take popcorn to the class that wins the popcorn party. The time will depend on the winning class and what works best in their schedule so we will update with the time when we know it. She is also asking for supplies for the family night in Jan (1/29/26 5:15-6:15). Here are the supplies she is needing donated if anyone is interested in helping: craft items (paper, stickers, cards etc- anything that could be used to make a simple piece of art or card). Please email me if you are able to volunteer.
Nature Film Festival:
On Friday, Jan. 23rd from 12:30-1:30, our nature teacher, Laura Richards will be hosting the Nature Film Festival in the gym. The event will be sharing short films made by the 5th grade classes, and we will be inviting their parents and some guests to come see the kids' hard work. She will need at least 2 volunteers to help with set up before the event to get the gym ready and 2 volunteers to help with managing the popcorn machine to give out to attendees. (No prior experience with the popcorn machine needed. It's easy, we promise!) Please email me back with any questions or if you are able to help out.
Thank you everyone. Here's to another great year at Alvarado!
