Countries
This is a list of countries, past and present, short-lived and long-lasting, that have existed in some form in the AltWorld universe.
Expect major changes to several of the below countries as i work through the years of 1880-1936

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (Great Britain)
Kingdom of Portugal (Portugal)
German Confederation (Germany)
Kingdom of the Netherlands (the Netherlands): coming soon
Kingdom of Denmark (Denmark): A quiet but vast empire that also owns Norway, Greenland, and Iceland. Has not gotten itself into any conflict just yet.
Kingdom of Sweden (Sweden): Similar position to Denmark, reportedly has a large army but hasn't used it on anything yet.
Kingdom of Finland (Finland): Despite being a monarchy, it has a constitution that limits the King's powers, one of the first countries of its time to do so. Created from the Russian Civil War, it is a founding father of Indep-Inter.
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (PLC): Was once a large empire before being conquered by the Kingdom of Russia. During the Russian Civil War, it regained sovereignty. It remains very neutral.
Byzantine Republic (Greece, Byzantium)

Republic of the Kazakh (Kazakh Republic)

French Provisional Government (France): Created as a result of the Great War, it had no central leader, and was instead led by the Legion, later the European Council.

Commonwealth Kingdoms (England, Scotland, Ireland, Brittany):
Asia
Ottoman Empire (The Ottomans, Turkey): The Ottomans, until the Great War, had been around for a very long amount of time. Their rise came around the same time as the Byzantine Republic's initial fall, back when it was called the Byzantine Empire. It wasn't until the Great War that they fell to Persia and Rome. (Will make a page for the Ottomans once I expand on Pre AltWorld more)
Provisional Republic of Turkey (Turkey): Turkey made a brand new Turkey after the Great War, one with significantly less territory. After the return of the Byzantine Republic following the War of Roman Aggression, Turkey merged with it.
Imperial China (not official name): The mapmakers have stopped keeping track of which dynasty is in power, so we just call it Imperial China. Originally a punching bag of Japan, during the War of Roman Aggression, China got Manchuria back. Otherwise a pretty quiet country. (Will make a page for this once I update to 1936)
Empire of Japan (Japan): Has always wanted to own a huge Pacific empire, and would have succeeded had it not tried to invade Australia during the War of Roman Aggression. (Same as above)
Kingdom of Siam (Siam): "Liberated" by Scotland, is part of the Commonwealth. Was once a vast empire back in its day, but was taken over by France. (Same as above)
Indonesia (Indonesia): Very quiet country. So quiet they wouldn't tell us their real name. All we know is that its similar to a confederal republic. Recently they made a deal with Japan where they'd be... owned.. by Japan.. but that got undone. Still very quiet.

Republic of Canada, Canadian Federation (Canada)
Kingdom of Alyeska/Romanov (Alyeska, Romanov): See Kingdom of Russia
Quebecois Republic (Quebec): Created after the Great War from French Quebec. Joined Canada after the War of Roman Aggression.
Independent Republic of Cascadia (Cascadia): Declared independence from Spain during the War of Roman Aggression alongside Texas and New England. Ironically, Cascadia is the only Independent Republic to have remained independent. Cascadia merged with a chunk of Alyeska that didn't know what to do with itself. Part of Indep-Inter.
Independent Republic of Texas (Texas): Declared independence alongside Cascadia and New England in order to join Portugal. Name choice was for solidarity or whatever.
Independent Republic of New England (New England): Declared independence alongside Cascadia and Texas in order to join Canada. Name choice was for solidarity or whatever. (will add this page and above two to american revolutionary wars page that i will make soon)
Africa
Kingdom of Liberia (Liberia): "Liberated" by England, is part of the Commonwealth. Was the first colony ever created in Africa, all the way back in the 1500s, by England. Later declared its independence, won, but then almost fell, so England re-occupied it. Technically the first colony to ever secede as well, but it was independent for a very short time. (will create page after 1936 update)

Europe
Holy Roman Empire of Germans (HRE-G, Holy Rome, HRE): Existed for at least 1000 years until its dissolution sometime in the later 1700s. Was originally a unified kingdom that held mostly German territory but also northern Italy. Since then kingdoms have broken away, and the power of the HRE slowly became less and less until it practically became an alliance similar to the Commonwealth (renamed HRE-G because it no longer held Rome at this point). Its last battle would be one to regain kingdoms lost to France, one that would end in failure and result in the collapse of the HRE-G. Most of the kingdoms in the former HRE-G unified to form the German Confederation, notable exception being Austria.
Kingdoms in the HRE-G: Prussia, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg, Saxony, Bavaria, Wurttemberg, Baden, Hanover, Austria
Bohemia, Moravia, Transylvania: Three kingdoms that existed at some point until being annexed by Austria and Hungary.
Unnamed Indian Empire: An empire that existed in India before British colonization. Not named at this time.
