Settler-Colonialism Theory

This academic theory is often used by anti-Israel faculty and campus protest groups to accuse Israel of oppression and genocide of so-called "indigenous" Palestinians. Understand Terms

Genocide

This term was coined in 1944 to describe the deliberate persecution and systematic mass murder of the Jews by the Nazis and their allies. Israel is attempting no such thing in its war against Hamas in Gaza and has gone to great lengths to protect civilians caught in the crossfire. This accusation is especially offensive because it is Hamas terrorists who intentionally raped and murdered Israeli civilians of all ages on October 7, kidnapped and holds hostages in inhumane conditions in underground tunnels, and that openly states that they want to eliminate all Jews. In contrast, the Israeli army has opened humanitarian corridors and provided food and medical treatment for innocent civilians, who suffer because Hamas inhumanely hides their weaponry and combatants among civilians in Gazan schools, private homes, and hospitals. Intifada

This references the First and Second Intifadas, which were violent terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians characterized by widespread protests, demonstrations, and suicide bombings. The chant on campuses and during street demonstrations to "globalise the Intifada" has incited violence beyond Israel to target Jewish people, places of worship, and other institutions worldwide perceived to be "Jewish."

White Oppression

Many Israelis are not white Europeans, as implied by this false term. Before Israel was founded, Jews had lived in the Middle East and North Africa for generations. Large populations were living in in British-controlled Palestine and many lived in exile in nearby Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Persia, Ethiopia, Syria, Iraq, Ethiopia, and Egypt. The "white European" Jews label refers to those who fled to the area from Russia and European countries, where they were subjected to antisemitism and progroms. Today, Israel is a multicultural country where 2 million Israeli citizens are of Arab descent, and segments of the population are not of Jewish faith, but are Christian, Muslim, Circassian, and Druze.

From the River to the Sea

This chant refers geographically to the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, an area inclusive of the current borders of Israel. It references the removal of all Jewish people and the destruction of the state of Israel from the area.
