After completing the Database SIMpath, I realized I knew less about databases than I previously thought. A database is a collection of raw data put together for easy access. There are 5 common database models: the hierarchical, the network, object-oriented, relational, and multidimensional. A majority of companies use databases to handle information. More specifically, it's used in e-commerce, human resources, and web applications.
For the Database Assessment assignment, I chose the Internet Archive. I have used it before just to look around and utilize the features such as the Wayback Machine. The Wayback Machine allows users to access websites at certain points of time, view deleted media, and easily access lost information. A lot of YouTubers and Internet Historians use this feature to research. This is my favorite feature on the database, I'm very intrigued by it! You can sort and filter information with the click of a button as well. I would consider the Internet Archive a distributed object-oriented database.
