During my time in FCPS, I sought out an opportunity to lead and manage a team outside of the classroom. With my strengths in Social Emotional Development, GOTR was exactly what I wanted to look into. 

My responsibilities in this role included:

• Problem Solving Skills - Facilitating Tough Conversations

  • This team acted as an intervention for students struggling to confidently build connections and develop safe, meaningful relationships with their peers. 

  • Students frequently ran into adversity when it came to their peers. This required explicit teaching, modeling, and facilitation to problem solve tough conversations. 

• Consistent and clear interpersonal communication with staff, students, families, and outside organizations

  • Leading each session

  • Writing and sending weekly emails and texts

  • Meetings with administration and the GOTR organization

  • Organizing orders through other companies for materials

  • Leading meetings with assistant coaches and families

• Ability and willingness to learn new skills

  • Attending trainings and professional development opportunities

  • Inviting a GOTR representative to seek out feedback on my leadership
