During my time in FCPS, I sought out an opportunity to lead and manage a team outside of the classroom. With my strengths in Social Emotional Development, GOTR was exactly what I wanted to look into.
My responsibilities in this role included:
Problem Solving Skills - Facilitating Tough Conversations
This team acted as an intervention for students struggling to confidently build connections and develop safe, meaningful relationships with their peers.
Students frequently ran into adversity when it came to their peers. This required explicit teaching, modeling, and facilitation to problem solve tough conversations.
Consistent and clear interpersonal communication with staff, students, families, and outside organizations
Leading each session
Writing and sending weekly emails and texts
Meetings with administration and the GOTR organization
Organizing orders through other companies for materials
Leading meetings with assistant coaches and families
Ability and willingness to learn new skills
Attending trainings and professional development opportunities
Inviting a GOTR representative to seek out feedback on my leadership
