As a teacher at a Title I school, I learned that to teach others, it requires gaining trust and building relationships. I made it my goal and specialty to find ways to connect with each of my students. This is a skill I am looking to utilize in my new position, because relationships are just as important with adults. I was able to create an environment at my workplace that was safe, respectful, productive, and caring. This was just one tool I learned in this career that I know will be beneficial in a new one.
This student centered, social/emotional approach to learning and student discipline is an entirely different way of thinking when it comes to classroom management. Choosing to learn Responsive Classroom through voluntary learning opportunities was an absolute game changer in my career.
Responsive classroom, combined with Yoga 4 Classrooms, was my classroom management "perfect storm". This allowed me to connect deeply with my students, and show them how to regulate emotionally and make choices intrinsically. This training truly changed how I interact with others, and I believe it is something I can take into the rest of my professional career, not just teaching!
See the slides to explore a week of math plans! I create them, then share them with my team. They come with notes under each slide and resources to follow along with. I take time to sift through district resources, and combine them with the needs of our learners to prepare us for the week.
