Power Systems
Due to the new connection constraints for the power grids, requiring robust solutions able to cope with uncertainties and intermittence from renewable energy sources, the interconnection of such renewables with storage systems has to be investigated. A "Plug and Play” approach based on the “System of Systems” philosophy, composed by subsystems having different characteristics at different time-scale is then introduced as solution. Both the changing environmental conditions and the (un)expected load variations are taken into account. The controllers consider power balance and the desired requirements as constraints, as well as they take into account the different nature of the storage devices and the sustainability of the whole system.
