This exercice goal was to create a level for a 3d platformer in a world of floating islands using this Unreal Bazar's character.
I had to adjust some of the traversal mechanics of this character because it was very clunky, jumping was floaty and flying was only forward, so I changed all of that.
The idea of the level was to be semi-linear so in this case I made a linear tutorial that gets to a hub where the player choses the order of zones to beat so the big door to end opens.
Try some bait & switch level design technique.
Make a beautiful and inmersive world that feels cozy and cute.
Make two core mechanics and theme gameplay beats with them.
Keep practicing the use of landmarks and ways to guide the player.
