If your boat is not a single hand catamaran your crew is really important. Look after them. Teach and explain as much as you can. Plan for worst case scenarios and get your crew up to speed on all the controls, boat setup, boat take down, launching and retrieving off the water. Teach them how to sail your boat if they are new sailors. Try to get a consistent crew or at least a number of people you sail with regularly. Every time you go out they will gain experience and you will hopefully gain diplomacy. Don't let your crew be the weak link they could be by not being a great skipper. When the worst case scenario happens you and your crew will be able to deal with it if you have taken the time to go over everything on your boat's operation.
