"A fascinating prison piece on the level of "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Longest Yard," Tennant does an excellent job of making you feel for these characters and their situations... and the history is bracing as we experience it for ourselves."
With a murderer coaching, a thief as a shortstop, a forger pitching, an alleged rapist on first base, and a man on death row as their star player, "The Cons" become one of the best baseball teams in Wild West Wyoming. Initially intended as a prison reform, the team's popularity drives press, praise, and money into the hands of the Warden and Wyoming governor. Rumors that the convicts' sentences are being adjusted based on their performance during games begin brewing—and the Warden starts to question if that would be such a bad situation. As the season unfolds, the line between punishment and exploitation blurs, challenging the ideals of justice and redemption.
