Teaching Philosophy
I was born in research but teaching is my passion. My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) which asserts the difference between what a learner can do without help, and what they can not do. In this so called age of Information and Technology, we are gradually evolving as a “Homo Digital” from Homo sapiens. Knowledge is not confined in the classroom anymore and classical learning is not happening either, rather it is open to the World Wide Web. Learners have everything available at their fingertips and it only requires an intelligent mentoring from a teacher or lecturer. Of course, I am aware about the digital divide emerging from social stratification. In this circumstance, the very moral duty of a teacher is to introduce the right tools and techniques to learners so that they can learn autonomously and apply them in solving real life problems. My pedagogical style has also been influenced by the social pedagogy and Cambridge Communicative Approach, developed especially for ESOL and I try to make a perfect blend between Andragogy and Pedagogy.
