This process follow the same main principles as Simple Items.
1) Load your Packs and choose your texture file or textures folder.

1) Load your Packs and choose your texture file or textures folder.
2) Choose the food tab, and configure all options as needed:
Nutrition value
Saturation type (dropmenu)
Whether the item should turn into something upon being consumed (like Bowl of Soup to Bowl)
Whether the item can always be eaten (like Golden Apple)
Whether the item grants any additional effects upon being eaten and their own parameters
3) Click generate food.
item_texture.json has either been created or updated
And the item code has been written out in BP/items/
And the item now exists in the Add-On!
