Gateway to the US Air and Space Force
Some branches require their applicants to perform aerobic or strength testing before enlisting. Whereas we highly recommend you not be a couch potato and encourage aerobic training prior to basic training, the Air Force uses height and weight ranges for processing and qualification.
The Air Force requires a minimum of 31 Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score for enlistment.
The ASVAB is the HIGHEST disqualifying factor in applicants here in central Michigan.
Either before our first face-to-face or shortly into our initial interview, you will take a practice ASVAB. If you are eligible for an "at-home" test, it will require your full Social Security Number to register you.
I HIGHLY recommend that prior to our initial interview, you do an internet search and take some practice tests.
You wouldn't go into battle without a weapon, understand the ASVAB prior to taking it. https://www.thebalancecareers.com/how-the-asvab-afqt-score-is-computed-3354094
Unfortunately to most, the U.S. military is a highly selective career path. That said, there ARE medical conditions and medical history that can render you disqualified from enlisting. It's impossible to list all conditions that can disqualify you therefor, prior to contacting our office, we highly recommend a preliminary search online to see if you qualify medically to serve in the U.S. Military. The following link is a good place to start but is not all-inclusive. https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/disqualifiers-medical-conditions.html
The Air Force is a conglomerate of the most intellectual, integrity sound and a trustworthy pick of the United States population. Whereas we would prefer applicants to have a clean history of law violations, we understand that history is history. EVERY law violation, even if it has been expunged, dismissed, or sealed, MUST be disclosed to your recruiter. You will undergo an intense background investigation where EVERYTHING, to include juvenile violations, will need to be justified. Habitual law violators will be disqualified from enlistment and others might require a waiver approval from Command. Feel free to text (989) 992-2741 to see if you will need a waiver.
Current drug or alcohol abusers are NOT qualified to serve in ANY of the U.S. armed forces. You WILL undergo a drug and alcohol screening at MEPS. Keep in mind, even if it’s s legal in your state, all members of the military are forbidden to use illegal drugs which include the use of marijuana.
