Since the start of the quarantine in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AICS followed the policies set by the government and has suspended its public on-site operations including library services. Despite the situation, the library has never stopped its services and continues to virtually support the AICS community's informational needs. Keeping its students’ learning needs is the top priority of the library. Online reference service and support have been provided.
The impact of COVID-19, the AICS library needs to be more dynamic, creative, and responsive in giving its best service. AICS Library ensures to adopt the new trends in these challenging times for education and will continuously support the school in implementing the new academic environment.
AICS Library has created online channels to access much-needed online reference materials since clientele cannot come to visit the library. And learners can do their assignments and research while nestled safely at home. AICS library launches an Online Reference Service initiated with computers, cellphones, or another Internet technology, without being physically present in the library.
AICS Library utilizes the Online Reference Service as another method to help students to find and use online resources.
So, students might think they have lost those precious books because of quarantine. AICS library are now ready to serve those who need help in finding resources. Students need not visit the library instead, let the library serve the students while they are at home.
History of AICS
AICS was started way back in 1996. Owned by the late Mr. Manuel T. Asis, Chairman of the Board and President of AICS. It was in November of 1996 when the first branch of AICS was opened in Fairview, Quezon City. It offered 2-year courses in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Computer Secretarial, and other computer-related short programs. As the number of enrollees increased, AICS continued to grow, opening numerous branches located within Metro Manila and Luzon. In the year 2001, AICS started to offer B.S. Computer Science in Caloocan Branch followed by AICS Commonwealth in 2008. To date, AICS Commonwealth has two more B.S. degree programs: B.S. Computer Engineering, and B.S. Entrepreneurship. Now, after more than two decades in the industry, the school continues to grow and expand, In the Central Area we have Bicutan, Montalban, Tanay, and Taytay, North Area we have Tarlac and Meycauayan, and South Area we have Batangas, Lipa and GMA. As of Now Commonwealth and Bicutan cater BS Programs while other branches cater to Senior High Schools currently Batangas, Montalban, and Bacoor are applying for the BS degree program.
