NASA Student Launch

Founded in 2018, SBU Rocket Team is a student-led team under the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) at Stony Brook University dedicated to the advancement of space technologies and exploration. SBU Rocket Team’s membership primarily consists of engineering upperclassmen who participate in the mechanical engineering senior design project and this team functions to compete in the NASA Student Launch Competition. The main focus of this team is to design novel, rocket-flyable payload systems that highlight major challenges in space exploration and novel technologies as applicable to the aerospace sector. Mentorship Program

The NASA Student Launch team has an integrated mentorship program that focuses on teaching underclassmen and preparing them to take on the project for their prospective senior design (capstone) project. Mentees closely follow the core team and is also delegated into one of the three main sub-teams in order to learn their core functions.
