Ms. Afrika Abney attended Bell from 1991-1993. She graduated in 1993 and was 16 at that time. Years later, Ms. Abney donated the painting shown in the above photo. Additionally, she gave away the clothing articles and jewelry shown in the photo above.
Ms. Abney's art teacher when she was a student was Mr. Jorge Somarriba.
While, Ms. Abney was a high school student, she was invited to participate in the Congresswoman's Art Competition which took place in 1992 and 1993. During that time, she became a consultant.
Ms. Afrika Abney has offered a range of consulting services including in-person flyer dissemination, photography, postcard dissemination, and programming. She distributed flyers for events hosted by BZB International and Esther Productions, Inc. at various venues in Washington, D.C. from 2018 to 2019. She also provided flyer dissemination services for Esther Productions, Inc. from August 29, 2023, to October 2023.
