Reflection chapter 4: Upcycling Fabric
Reflection chapter 4: Upcycling Fabric
In Chapter 4, we learned about Upcycling Fabric. In this chapter, we were asked to create clothes and accessories from used fabric or fabric scraps. At first, we were asked to use the Betawi theme, but later the theme was allowed to be free. Our class finally chose the Batak theme because our homeroom teacher is from Batak.
In this activity, we were divided into several groups. There were groups that made clothes, male accessories, and female accessories. I was in the female accessories group. In my group, I made a sortali and some other accessories that matched the Batak theme.
After all the projects were finished, we presented our work in a fashion show on the school field. In the end, our class won first place for the best patchwork fabric, and we all felt very happy and proud of our teamwork.
My feelings during this chapter were quite mixed because there were many different opinions among the group members. Sometimes those differences caused small arguments, but in the end we were still able to work together and finish the project.
The hardest challenge I faced in this chapter was the lack of time. Our class was only given a few weeks to complete the project, and in my opinion the time was quite limited. However, even with the limited time, we still worked hard to finish the project and finally won first place.
I kept trying to finish this assignment because it is my responsibility as a student to complete the tasks given by the teacher. I also wanted to help my group and my class so that we could complete this project together with a good result.
If I could whisper one thing to Ma’am about this chapter, I would say that the Upcycling Fabric activity was very enjoyable because it helped us learn teamwork and creativity while making something useful from used fabric.
