Satellite Mission Design
An introductory online course designed to cover the core fundamentals of space systems engineering
An introductory online course designed to cover the core fundamentals of space systems engineering
How to start designing a space mission from scratch and understand the key decisions made by satellite engineers before building a spacecraft. This introductory course is specially designed to academically and conceptually prepare students and connect theoretical concepts with modern space technology.
Target Audience: Students aged 11 to 16 years old.
Delivery Method: Online
Prerequisites: None
Total Training Hours: 5 Hours Total
The course covers the following core modules:
Space & Satellite Applications:
The role of satellites in solving communication problems and providing services on Earth.
Orbital Mechanics:
Gravity, orbital motion, and satellite orbits.
Orbit Selection:
Comparing different orbits (LEO, MEO, and GEO) and choosing the right orbit for the mission.
Orbital Elements:
Understanding the elements that describe the shape, size, and orientation of an orbit.
Satellite Subsystems:
Exploring satellite subsystems including:
(Structure, EPS, Thermal, OBC, ADCS, Communication, Payload).
Launch & Deployment:
The launch phase, reaching orbit, and deploying the satellite in space.
Satellite Operations:
Sending commands, receiving data, and operating the mission successfully.
Space Sustainability:
Managing space debris and planning for the end-of-life of satellites.
Mission Design Challenge:
A mini practical application to prepare a preliminary space mission concept.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Explain the fundamental principles of satellite operations.
Understand the relationship between mission goals and appropriate orbits.
Identify the functions of various subsystems inside a satellite.
Think about power, communication, control, and operational requirements.
Prepare a preliminary concept for a space mission using learned engineering decisions.
Prepare for understanding practical and advanced applications.
Official Certificate of Completion: Issued by Aerospace Craft Academy, and Nano Satellite Yard.
Digital Study Material: Access to digital slides, reference handouts, and guided mini-project materials.
Recorded Sessions: Live sessions are recorded and made accessible for the entire duration of the course plus 1 week after completion.
Regular Price: 600 EGP
