An introductory online course designed to cover the core fundamentals of space systems engineering and small-satellite architecture.

Course Overview

Target Audience: Engineering students, graduates, and postgraduates (Telecommunications, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer & IT, Aerospace Engineering).
Delivery Method: Online
Prerequisites: None
Duration: 4 Weeks (2 sessions/week) — 1 Orientation Session (2 hrs) + 8 Core Sessions (1 hr each)
Total Training Hours: 10 Hours Total

Course Objectives

This course bridges academic engineering with real-world small satellite technologies by introducing:

The fundamentals of space systems engineering and small-satellite technology.
A foundational understanding of CubeSat and CanSat platform architectures.
Core satellite subsystems: Structure, Power, Onboard Computing, and Communication.
The basics of space mission design and the spacecraft development lifecycle.
Preparation for further specialization in advanced space technology tracks.

🎯 Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Explain the key differences between CubeSat and CanSat platforms and their typical applications.
Describe the main subsystems of a small satellite and their specific functional roles.
Identify basic mission requirements and constraints involved in planning space missions.
Apply fundamental orbital mechanics concepts to describe satellite Earth orbits.
Contribute to a basic CanSat/CubeSat concept-design exercise as part of a technical team.
