Advanced Math - Understanding Limits and Continuity
Part 10 of the math decathlon, understanding limits, and continuity.
Limits in everyday life are understandable like you can get a candy at the store (but a $2 or $4 one not a $20 candy), they exist in the stock market, like I want to buy 2 of those stocks but not for more than $80 each, they exist within families, like you can go to your friend's house, but not if you don't finish your chores, and they also exist in math. In math the limit means the line won't cross a certain threshold, it gets close to that threshold but doesn't cross it. Continuity means there is a bridge with no gap, a solid line that keeps going not stepping stones, solid-filled circles mean points that are full and white circles mean the function/line doesn't exist at that point it's just an "empty seat."
