» The easiest way to hunt is just to describe your character hunting. If you go this route, you may only target small prey. All small prey reward one food point, so this isn't an ideal tactic when managing large packs. Please notify staff of your wolf hunting small prey (with a link to the writing) so we may update your pack's log.
» Moving on to other examples, they will go over how the pack's proficiency levels interact with hunting.
» Each level of skill proficiency grants the hunting party additional points. These points are added to the RNG that is rolled when a pack wants to hunt. The animal will also roll for an RNG, so modifiers help give wolves a bit of an edge.
» The modifier is adjusted by the hunting parties' majority skill level proficiency. Which means, in a hunting party of mostly Novice levels with one Adept, only the Novice level modifier will be used.
» Lists of Modifier Levels:
Novice: + 2
Intermediate: + 4
Adept: + 6
Expert: + 8
Masterful: + 10
» You may roll for hunting twice per day. There will be a form and a specific channel for this in the Discord.
» After the player submits the pack for a hunting roll to see if they were successful or not, a staff member will use the following formula to calculate the results.
(RNG 1-20 + SPL Modifier) vs RNG 1-20. <- This is what the prey will 'roll.'
'SPL Modifier' refers to the bonus points added to the hunting party. 'RNG 1-20' is a randomly generated number between 1-20.
» Greater number 'wins.' If your pack rolls a natural 20 (with no modifiers), an extra 20 units of food will be added to the kill.
» In the case of a tie, the hunting party will win.
» A pack of four adults chooses to go on a hunt. Their proficiency levels are as follows:
Wolf A: Novice in all categories.
Wolf B: Novice in all categories.
Wolf C: Novice in RES and HNT categories only.
Wolf D: No proficiency in any category.
» This pack has a total of three adults who are Novice in the Resourcefulness skill and three adults who are Novice in the Hunting skill. As more than half of the adult members are novices in both of those categories, they can pursue small prey and medium evasive prey. Since none of these wolves are Novice in the Combat skill, they cannot pursue combative prey animals.
» If they were to pursue a beaver, this is what it may look like:
(15 + 1) vs 8. Hunting party wins with 16 and adds 10 units of food to their cache.
» A pack of twelve adults chooses to go on a hunt. They have four wolves that are Intermediate across all levels, six adults with an Expert proficiency skill level in all skills, and two members who are Masters. This means that they can pursue all medium prey and some large prey. Still, the only modifier that will be applied will be the Expert modifier (+8) instead of the Master modifier (+10).
» If they were to pursue a Mule Deer doe, it may look like this:
(11 + 8) vs 17. Hunting party wins with 18 and adds 50 units of food to their cache.
