  • "Developing effective teams and redesigned systems is critical to achieving care that is patientcentered, safer, timelier, and more effective, efficient, and equitable." (IOM, 2001).

  •  Teamwork in healthcare is all about respect, attention to detail and selflessness. Teamwork can ensure the patient's wellbeing through active listening, shared information in detail and professionalism. It is important to share medical information if it's going to be better for the patient, being respectful and appreciating teamwork. Teamwork is crucially important because without communication and teamwork the hospital staff and patients can be in a seriously dangerous situation. For example, we can imagine that two nurses that checked on the patient did not talk to each other and both gave a double the dose of a medication which needed to be taken only once. Now, the patient is in critical situation, risking their life due to unprofessionalism and poor teamwork. I will commit to becoming a strong team member by respecting my collogues, patients, doctors and what they have to say to me. I will also actively listen and make sure I get every detail about the information that was shared with me. And finally, I will always be open for communication and help!
