Equitable Patient Care involves treating all patients with the same amount of care, quality treatment of any kind and respect, regardless of one's personal physical data, moral ethics, cultural/religious beliefs. To care for people equally means to remove all barriers and to respect a patient's condition and needs regardless of any possible differences. All healthcare professionals have to provide fairness and quality care to all patients inside the hospital to ensure successful procedures, recovery and well-being of all.
Pediatrics - these patients are different from others because they are younger and their nervous system and brain development did not quite reach the full cycle yet. These patients may be having anxiety, sensitivity, fear while being in the hospital. If a pediatric patient is ever going to need my help, I will calm them down or distract them through talks, hugs, distractions, emotional availability and frequent check ins.
Geriatric - These patients may need assistance in moving due to their mobility difficulties, in which I will make sure to gladly help them. I also want to mention the fact, that these patients may be needing emotional and psychological support at this age because not all people age healthy for themselves and others. Some people have intrusive thoughts which are very important to notice aside from mobility by itself. I will make sure to keep an eye on them and support them through physical or psychological difficulties.
Substance Abuse - These patients have fallen sick because of their unhealthy and possibly illegal habits. These patients may be more difficult and time consuming to treat than others, but I feel like through patience and emotional support I will be able to help them. I can't mention the fact that through strength and time, these people reach a healthy lifestyle, and of course through healthcare workers and proper medical treatment.
