Identify Concerns:
In Acorn FCCLA, we mainly communicate through email. After briefly talking to my peers, a large portion of them had openly admitted to not checking their inbox as much as they needed to. Students not checking their email led to less student involvement. Parents also needed to be informed about what our organization is doing so that their child can be involved. Our emails cannot be sent parents. We needed a way to be able to share with parents and the public about what Acorn FCCLA is doing.
Set A Goal:
I set a goal to find a way to keep members on schedule, inform new members and parents, and to educate the public. My goal was to create a website that included all of the aspects I was concerned about. I wanted one place that everyone could go to and find any information they needed about Acorn FCCLA. I wanted to show what our chapter does during the year. I wanted students to see what a great organization we have so that they wanted to become involved.
Form A Plan:
To start, I would compile a list of all officers and their bio. Then, I would put together an agenda for our chapter year. I would make this into a google doc and put it on the website. I would also include all the info needed for students and parents to learn about the FCCLA organization. I also wanted to add a photo album to the website to show our amazing experiences as a chapter along with the activities we participate in together.
Act:
I then put my plan into action. I made the website using google sites. It was a learning experience because I had never created a whole website before. I plan to promote the website at the next club event and share it on our social media page. I also pushed it out to the entire Acorn student body and staff.
Follow Up:
When the website was finished, we had given access to all parents, staff, and students from the school districts Facebook page, which is our main communication.
