We have a project that focuses on reaching teenagers. Taking care of two kittens for 8 weeks (45 minutes a day) can give about 40 volunteer hours.

Key points for teenagers to agree to
Fact 1: Kittens need attention.
Fact 2: Students are away from home for hours at a time.
Fact 3: Kittens can entertain each other IF there is
a) space to move
b) heifhts to explore (cat tree)
c) enough litter boxes (cats like to be clean)
Fact 4: Kittens get worms. (Usually the animal clinic will give the shots that the kittens need, but it is the duty of the teenager to keep track of when the next vaccine booster or visit to the vet is needed)
Fact 5: Kittens can die quickly. Their immune system is developing slowly. See the story here
Some kittens eat litter. If the litter is clay, that's like eating dirt.
ACF supports teenagers by supplying GRASS SEED LITTER or other litter made from vegetation. Please use that litter ... let's keep kittens clean
