Dr. Monique Gary DO, MSc, FACS

Professor Dr. Gary is a USA breast surgical oncologist specialized in the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease. She is the CMO and Co-chair of Bexa Equity Alliance, a community health expert and Health equity consultant. Dr. Monique Gary is currently the breast surgical oncologist in Pennsylvania serving Philadelphia, and the surrounding area. Dr. Gary completed her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and her general surgery training at UMass, followed by the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. She holds faculty appointments in surgery and serves as an adjunct associate professor of the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and as a medical advisor/contributor for national breast cancer advocacy organizations. Dr. Gary is also CEO of Still Rise Farms, a 40-acre farm that was founded as a “wellness incubator” for cancer patients and under-resourced, marginalized communities.

Miss Nawanyaga Gloria

I hold a bachelor's  Degree in law from Uganda Christian University specializing in Human rights and International Humanitarian law. I am one of the outspoken Advocates in the field of HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender equality, and Human Rights in Uganda. I am passionate about empowering young people through capacity building to realize their full potential to make informed decisions and healthy choices.

 I am the Founder of GILO Young Positives Foundation, a youth-led charity organization that empowers, equips, and educates young people both infected and affected with HIV to improve their livelihoods and well-being.

 I am an HIV Advocate and Activist strongly passionate about a world free from HIV and an HIV Free generation. I am the Miss Young Positives (Miss Y+ 2017/18), which is a campaign by the Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS(UNYPA) where l am a representative of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS, advocating for zero stigma and discrimination, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, promoting universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support; and, promoting the greater involvement of young people in policymaking. I am working with Makerere-University John Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration where l am a youth/adolescent peer educator helping young people who still have diverse adherence challenges, I provide holistic psychosocial support to adolescents and young people with high viral load(s) through regional camps in different regions of Uganda. l was nominated as a member of the ICASA 2019 Youth Programmes Committee as the representative for all young people living with HIV in the East African Region. I am also a Champion in ending Violence against Young Girls and Women and I was nominated by the International Society of Women Living with HIV in East Africa and l advocate for gender equality, empowerment, and promotion of the lives of young girls and women.

 I am also the reigning Miss Uganda Rising Woman 2019/22 where I have continued to advocate against HIV stigma and discrimination and also advocate for inclusivity of YPLHIV in the private sector programming for adolescent girls and young women. I advocate for the rights of YPLHIV by using my talent through edutainment, mass media, and social media to make more awareness about HIV.

 I am the Founder of the Y+ Music Band which is a band for young people living with HIV who believe that they can use their talent to create a positive impact in society mainly through Edutainment.

 I am also the Global Ambassador of Students HIV Awareness (SHIVA); a youth lead initiative that targets HIV awareness creation, prevention, treatment, and care in different education institutions in Uganda. I am an Award Winner of the Pearl of Africa Fashion Awards as Best Beauty Queen 2018; a recognition l received from the tremendous efforts to challenge HIV-related stigma and discrimination, especially among young people across the country.
