Founded in 2022, ACCR is a non-profit organization committed to advancing cancer control through research, education, awareness, and the law. Our mission is to explore the nature, causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of all cancers. We are dedicated to translating our research into practical legislation and policies that support cancer prevention and care in Uganda.
At ACCR, we believe in the power of collaboration and innovation. By partnering with government and non-governmental organizations, we aim to ensure the highest standards in cancer research while working to develop policies that protect and improve public health. We are equally focused on educating the next generation of scientists and raising public awareness about the importance of cancer prevention and treatment.
Our core objectives include:
Investigating the causes of cancer in Uganda and developing improved methods for diagnosing, preventing, and treating various forms of cancer.
Providing state-of-the-art training and educational opportunities for emerging researchers.
Translating scientific evidence into actionable information for legislators to inform evidence-based laws/policies and strategies for cancer prevention and control in Uganda.
Raising public awareness and promoting cancer education to create informed communities.
We invite you to join us in our mission to fight cancer, one discovery at a time.
ACCR plays a leading role in advancing cancer research partnerships in Uganda through the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition Initiative, led globally by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). As the national focal point, we convene government, healthcare institutions, and partners to strengthen access to quality cancer medicines and diagnostics.
Through this collaborative effort, we are supporting coordinated, country-led solutions to improve cancer care and patient outcomes.
The ANANDA Centre for Cancer Research (ACCR) has launched the Cancer Policy Lab (CPL), an innovative platform that brings together stakeholders to translate cancer research into actionable policy.
The first Lab in Uganda focused on HPV vaccination prioritization to accelerate cervical cancer elimination.
At ACCR, we strengthen cancer research and healthcare in Uganda through capacity building and professional training. Our programs include Applied Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and advanced clinical research training, equipping professionals with essential skills in ethics, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
Through these initiatives, we are building a skilled workforce and supporting high-quality, locally driven cancer research.
ACCR works closely with communities to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and access to care. Through outreach activities, education sessions, and advocacy campaigns, we empower individuals with knowledge and amplify community voices in the fight against cancer.
