Curriculum Proposals
Curriculum Proposals
Curriculum proposals can include changes to existing curriculum (course sequencing, course prerequisites, etc.) or proposing new curriculum (new degree, degree emphasis, diploma, or certificate or new courses).
Requesting a Curriculum Change
Contact one of our Curriculum Consultants and they will schedule a meeting with you to discuss the details of your proposal.
Timeline for Curriculum Proposals
Tri-County Technical College Policy 3-2-1012 states that “A student admitted to a curriculum is granted the right to complete that curriculum as defined in the College catalog at the time of initial enrollment.” Dates and deadlines for curriculum changes are based on the catalog publishing deadlines to ensure that the information in the College catalog is as accurate and up-to-date as possible in order to honor student catalog rights.
Any curriculum changes will be effective each Fall Semester, but all changes must have final approvals no later than November 1st of the previous year. For example, any changes effective Fall 2024 (academic year 2024-2025) must receive final approvals by November 1, 2023. This is to ensure all changes are final in time to be published in the College Catalog.
Possible Approval Levels
Adding more confusion to the timing of curriculum changes are the different possible approval levels and their associated deadlines. The approvals required for curriculum proposals vary depending on the details of the proposed change. This is why it is crucial to include a Curriculum Consultant early in any conversations regarding curriculum changes. Potential approval levels include:
New Credential Review Board
Technical Review
TCTC Curriculum Committee
TCTC Commission
State Tech and/or SC CHE
SACSCOC
