Monument Valley, 2022
Oil on linen
Monument Valley transforms the familiar geography of canyons and peaks into a symphony of color and waves, like a fever dream of nature. In Jin Jeong’s hands, geography becomes an abstract fluid, surging like rivers of emotion unbound by realism. The canvas is a living landscape. One not shaped by erosion but by movement, mood, and memory.
Jeong’s palette destabilizes the viewer’s sense of place, drawing them into a new world. Here, lime green cliffs meet magenta highlights; tangerine and cobalt collide in tectonic shadows. The result is both psychedelic and meditative.
This is not a depiction of land, but a reimagining of how the beauty of land feels.
