To encourage the development of crowd sourcing platforms MIT created a program called Solve which is complementary to Crowdsourcing Week. In these programs collective intelligence is put to work to find solutions to worldwide problems. Crowdsourcing Week is fairly similar to Solve in that it focuses on global innovation. One difference is that Crowdsourcing Week is based only on crowd sourcing. However, both do employ collective intelligence in the same way when it comes to the crowd sourcing aspect of projects. The collective intelligence of the crowd will be equal to or greater than the answer which experts in a certain field come up with [Houlihan, 2018].

One such part of a school is the University of Technology Sydney Collective Intelligence Centre. This is done to better innovate and help the groups that come to them seeking guidance. Local projects as well as larger ones (CATALYST) are completed utilizing crowd sourcing and collective intelligence [Knight, 2015].
