Crowd sourcing plays a large role in the education system. This technique is being used to take education to new heights and to better aid the students participating in the system. An example of this is the Education for All project created by UNESCO. In Tanzania and Ethiopia, discussion was raised about obstacles girls had to obtaining a good education [Edwards, 2017] . Girls gave solutions to these obstacles which were later used to improve education in those countries. Collective intelligence and crowd sourcing are also used in university environments to help solve medical issues such as games that allow for the diagnosing of dementia. Furthermore, online classes such as Khan Academy utilize the specific organizations or people in a crowd to form credible sources that will allows for learning at one's own pace. Some even make both online and offline learning a social activity, like Peer 2 Peer University. P2PU is way for students to be part of a study group where they may take online classes as well as in person classes [Master]. The P2PU has 644 learning groups, 422 courses, and 154 partaking cities. Teachers have also taken activities in their own hands to see the effects of cooperative learning on their students. This is done by organizing students in types of group work where they begin with a solo task and then put their thoughts together with other peers [Simkin, 2004].
Through the MIT Solve program [London 2017], Gail Anderson proposed a project where refugees would be able to access an online crowd sourced learning platform from anywhere in the world. Although it is unclear whether this is still an ongoing project, the proposal has made strides in crowd sourcing. Through rPartners, a group of volunteers, refugee children who do not have the resources to continue their education after displacement are connected to professional teachers. These teachers make up the crowd by mentoring the students as well as creating a list of educational resources. The main purpose of the program is to ease refugees into a system of formal education [Anderson].
