Rationale:
I have included this artifact, Reading Assessment Analysis, under Standard #6 because this assignment clearly demonstrates my understanding of how using various assessment methods can engage learners. This assessment helped me understand how to administer a reading assessment effectively.
Reflection:
This artifact documents my ongoing process of learning to administer assessments effectively. Throughout this experience, I recognized that obstacles are an inherent part of instructional practice. Administering the assessment to a single student required 10 to 15 minutes, which underscored the challenge of scaling this process to an entire class of fourth graders. This realization led me to consider alternative implementation strategies. For instance, having students administer the assessment to one another in groups could improve efficiency. However, this method may introduce barriers, such as the risk of inaccurate results due to peer grading bias. This artifact demonstrates my professional growth and commitment to teaching, as I invested considerable time in evaluating various solutions before determining the most effective approach. In relation to this standard, I recognize the importance of further developing my ability to select assessments appropriate for diverse classrooms. After reflecting, I could have considered additional strategies to ensure the evaluation addresses the needs of all learners.
