In this program, you will learn how to bring community projects to life that have a positive impact on the Asian American community. This course aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge to engage with community stakeholders, create timeline and budget sheets, and market your program to the community. Throughout this course, you will learn the process of building a community project and may have the opportunity to pilot the project with fellow students and community members. In doing multiple presentations, you will also practice public speaking skills in anticipation for the Q&A segment after the presentation.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Recognize and define community needs and challenges effectively
Develop comprehensive project timelines outlining key milestones and deadlines.
Break down project activities into manageable tasks and allocate appropriate timeframes.
Estimate and allocate resources effectively to ensure project success.
Identify potential sources of funding, including grants, sponsorships, and donations.
Develop persuasive funding proposals and presentations tailored to different stakeholders.
Implement pilot project plans effectively, adhering to timelines and budgets.
Foster community engagement and participation throughout the implementation process.

The Asian American Youth Leaders is a youth leadership program developed in partnership between the South Coast Chinese Cultural Association (SCCCA) in Irvine and the Humanities Center at the University of California Irvine.
The aim of the program is to:
Cultivate the next generation of Asian American leaders who can contribute to the social dialogue in developing just and equitable solutions to social challenges and needs.
Develop leadership skill sets necessary to participate in civic engagement activities and effect positive change in society.
Broadly increase awareness within the Asian American community on the shared and disparate histories of immigration by the various Asian ethnic and cultural groups.
Increase and promote contributions of Asian Americans in the United States.
