Job Summary:

As a Student Advisory Board Member for the Asian American Youth Leaders (AAYL) program, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute your insights, perspectives, and ideas to shape the organization's programs and initiatives. The Student Advisory Board serves as a crucial link between the organization and the student body, providing valuable input and guidance to help steer the organization's direction. This position is open to enthusiastic and dedicated high school students who are passionate about making a positive impact in their communities. 


Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate and provide input: Actively participate in meetings, discussions, and brainstorming sessions to contribute new ideas and insights to support the organization's mission and goals.

2. Represent student voices: Serve as a representative and advocate for fellow students, ensuring that their opinions and concerns are heard and considered by the organization's leadership.

3. Program development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the organization's programs, projects, and initiatives by sharing innovative ideas, suggesting improvements, and providing feedback.

4. Outreach and recruitment: Assist in promoting the organization's activities within the student community, encouraging participation, and recruiting other students to get involved.

5. Event planning and execution: Help organize and execute events, workshops, and other activities in collaboration with the organization's staff, ensuring they are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the student community.

6. Feedback and evaluation: Provide constructive feedback on the organization's programs and initiatives, helping to evaluate their effectiveness and suggesting areas for improvement.

7. Collaboration with staff: Collaborate with the organization's staff members, sharing your perspectives and insights, and working together to achieve common goals.


Qualifications:

1. Student status: Must be currently enrolled as a student in high school and have participated in at least one previous AAYL program/workshop

2. Passion for the organization's mission: Demonstrated interest in and alignment with the non-profit organization's mission and values.

3. Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas, thoughts, and feedback.

4. Collaboration and teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, valuing diverse perspectives and contributing to collective decision-making.

5. Creativity and problem-solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions.

6. Time commitment: Willingness to dedicate the necessary time to attend meetings, participate in discussions, and contribute to the organization's activities from September 2024 - July 2025. AAYL Student advisory board members must also participate in both the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 Programs for AAYL.

7. Leadership potential: Display leadership qualities such as initiative, responsibility, and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
